Linden Hill Foot Care

The most common form of heel pain is called plantar fasciitis, which is also known as a heel spur. The broad fibrous tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot from the heel to the toes is called the Plantar Fascia. When the plantar fascia becomes inflamed it causes plantar fasciitis (heel spur). This condition can be very uncomfortable and painful. The prolonged inflammation causes calcium deposits where the plantar fascia inserts into the heel. This creates a sharp thorn like appearance (heel spur) which can be seen on an x-ray. The pain doesn’t come from the heel spur itself; it comes from the inflammation of the plantar fascia. The most common cause of heel pain is when the foot rotates inward too much when you walk. Other causes are an increase in weight. People who have flat feet are at high risk for this condition. If you have heel pain or any type of foot pain you need to be examined by our Linden Hill foot specialist, Gary B. Feldman, DPM. Dr. Feldman will provide you with a thorough exam which may include x-rays and will be able to diagnose the cause of your foot pain. He will then provide you with available options to help alleviate the pain and to resolve your condition.

One of the most common and effective treatments for heel pain and heel spurs is the through use of orthotics. Orthotics are shoe inserts that are custom made to fit you. Orthotics not only treats heel spurs but other painful conditions as well, such as flat feet. They do this by correcting abnormal walking patterns. They are placed inside the shoe and alter the angle that the foot strikes when walking. When you come in to see our Linden Hill foot specialist, Gary B. Feldman, DMP, he will let you make recommendations to treat your heel pain. Dr. Gary Feldman is an outstanding doctor. Dr. Feldman utilizes traditional medical treatment but also offers hypnosis as well! Medical hypnosis is one of the most effective non-surgical, non-medication treatments for pain. Dr. Feldman will teach this method to his patients who are open to it. Not only is Dr Feldman experienced and knowledgeable, but he is very caring as well. Dr. Feldman is so dedicated to his patients that he will make house calls upon request.
